Short bio

From August 2021 to October 2023, I worked at Explosion 💥 as a machine learning engineer, spaCy core developer, and lead of the performance team.

From October 2020 to August 2021, I offered consulting services as TensorDot. I extended the SyntaxDot neural syntax annotator for several customers and provided training in language modeling using transformer models.

From August 2013 until September 2020, I worked as a researcher at the Department of General and Computational Linguistics of the University of Tübingen. Most of my research focused on syntax annotation using deep neural networks. I also taught various courses in the ISCL BA and MA programs. I was also a co-Principal Investigator of the SFB 833 A3 project from July 2017 to March 2019,

From September 2008 to December 2012, I was a PhD candidate at the University of Groningen in the STEVIN DAISY project of the Dutch Scientific Foundation. Here, I worked on natural language generation, machine learning, and error mining under the supervision of prof. Gertjan van Noord.
